Therapy for a life that actually feels like yours.

Skills To Thrive is a neurodivergent-affirming, trauma-informed occupational therapy practice in Edmonton, Alberta, for adults, kids and teens, and the organizations supporting them. Led by Juanita Gnanapragasam, OT.

Welcome

WE OFFER MENTAL HEALTH OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY

Not every therapy or therapist is the same, and it can be tough to find the right match.

Hi, I’m Juanita, a registered counselling therapist and occupational therapist. I started Skills To Thrive because I kept seeing people fall through the gaps of standard mental health care, especially folks who are neurodivergent or navigating big life transitions. The work I do is practical, honest, and built around what you want your daily life to look like.

Services

Three ways we can work together.

Pick the path that fits. Not sure? Take the quiz or book a free 15-minute consult — no pressure, no pitch.

For adults

Mental health & daily life support

Neurodivergent-affirming, trauma-informed OT for adults navigating burnout, anxiety, big life changes, or a daily life that’s become harder than it should be.

This might fit if you…
  • Want practical tools, not just talk
  • Are exploring neurodivergence (ADHD, autism, or “something”)
  • Are recovering from burnout, trauma, or a big transition
  • Have tried therapy before and felt like something was missing
For kids, teens & families

Pediatric OT & parent coaching

Play-based, affirming OT for children and teens — plus real coaching for parents, because what happens at home matters as much as what happens in session.

This might fit if…
  • Your child is struggling with emotions, focus, or sensory stuff
  • School isn’t working and you’re not sure why
  • You’re navigating a new (or suspected) diagnosis
  • You want strategies that fit your actual family, not a textbook
For organizations

Consulting, workshops & community work

Eight-plus years of running workshops and consulting for clinicians, communities, and organizations — on mental health, sensory processing, DEI, and social wellbeing.

Good fit for…
  • Clinics and healthcare teams wanting neurodivergent-affirming training
  • Schools, community groups, and nonprofits
  • Organizations building inclusive programs or spaces
  • Projects with underrepresented communities (some funded work available)

Not sure which path fits? The two-minute quiz will point you somewhere honest — and a free 15-minute consult is always the right next step.

Occupational therapy can be used as a stand-alone treatment or in conjunction with treatments provided by other healthcare disciplines such as psychiatry, psychology, social work, and counselling.

In Alberta, occupational therapists are able to perform the restricted activity of psychotherapy.

About Juanita

Hi there, I’m Juanita Gnanapragasam, OT.R (AB), MPH, BSc and owner and sole therapist of Skills To Thrive.

As the name suggests, I started Skills To Thrive to support individuals and organizations in building skills to achieve their wellness goals related to activities that bring meaning and joy. My interest in occupational therapy was sparked after I worked on projects where I created social spaces for individuals of different abilities to be empowered to explore their connection, identity, and community using food.

Based on my previous frontline experiences, I have seen that mental health is at the core of thriving and resiliency. Thus, I’ve dedicated my career to understanding how we can create and promote mental health through our daily interactions and occupations.
